How far can 2.5 seconds be represented in lengths over 5 furlongs?
Answer: The conditions of the race in question will determine data.
In the UK prior to 2008 1 second covered 5 lengths so 2.5 seconds would cover 12.5 lengths.
However now the following applies:
Flat - Turf
6 lengths per second on going Good or quicker
5 lengths per second on going Soft
5.5 lengths per second if the going is Good to Soft
Flat - All-Weather Track
6 lengths per second at Kempton Park, Lingfield Park and Wolverhampton
5 lengths per second at Southwell
