How much do I win if a horse shows?

Wise Dan Wins Breeders Cup

Answer: A show bet is paid out of a pool for that race so there is no way of telling the payout until the pool is shared out to all winning bets.

To win a show bet your horse needs to finish in the first three.

It should be noted that the show pools tend to be very small compared to win or place returns.

A few situations may improve the payout; a race includes one short priced favorite and the rest of the field are longshots or you fancy an outsider to beat the favorite in which case a win/place/show bet could prove advantageous.
