Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter

The water leak is fixed temporarily - hopefully sorted before the Owners Open day next Saturday 6th 2- 4. This is an opportunity for everyone to see what our yard is all about and view all of our horses in training for the season ahead. Starts at 2 with a parade in the farm yard followed by a Buffet by Steve!

Then we have a mini Auction and a raffle for our charities Zoes Place - a childrens hospice and Cancer Research. Jack Walton will again auction the unique goods we have been gifted for the day - many thanks to him and those of you who have helped gather the goodies! Please bring a raffle prize if you can......

This week the horses have been building up fitness and doing very well - from 1 steady up the gallop to 1 steady and 2 medium pace up the gallop. A couple of our horses are trained slightly differently by doing most of their work on the circle, as they are just a little too keen to get on with the job!

Hexham had its disappointments, taking Dotties Promise out of her race with the ground drying out quickly. Late Night Drama has an issue we are looking to sort out but Gloria did her best and ran a great race to be 4th - she always puts her best foot forward! Tomorrow we have been invited to go to Stephney Bank Stables in Newcastle to show their clients how racing works - star of the show will be our very own Les's Legacy. Stepney Bank is an urban riding school with some pupils with Special needs.

We are also taking our old rugs, tack, body protectors and items we no longer use or are out of date for racing. I have never been before so I am looking forward to it. Anyone can go along its 3.30 - 5.00 Monday.

The girls, Abi and Bekah, had a good week with both winning best turned out awards for the turn out of Clear Angel ( ground too fast for him ) and LND. We also started the great dental and ulcer program where every horse has his/her teeth checked and stomach scoped for ulcers - a problem in most competition horses.

Amanda returns to more hours after her accident. Conor Rabbitt and Nathan will ride out 4 days a week as they get to know the new horses we have. Hope to see you next Saturday if you can make it.

Dates 6th September 2pm - 4 pm - Owners Open Day - more of the items through the week for the auction! Please RSVP if you have not already.

8th Perth Crimson Road - debut over hurdles.

16th Redcar - Clear Angel if the ground if soft.

17th Kelso O Faolains Glory - 2.2
