Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter

It was a very mixed day at Hexham with O Faolains Glory being brought down by the horse in front of her who jinked and slipped, allegedly frightened by a fence stewart in high viz.

Conor was thrown over the fence and after thinking he was fine actually had fractured his fibular so is out for a few weeks. Gloria was unscathed which was amazing and she goes to Perth on Thursday all being well.

Meanwhile Charlie ( Les's Legacy ) achieved his 5th win with Nathan on board for the Tweed Valley Racing Club. Home bred here at Girsonfield he has now won nearly 60K.

His sire was Kutub who stood here at stud, back in the day before we had a training licence. It was a good win for Nathan who had his own bad luck being thrown off in his previous three rides! So Nathan and Charlie both back on track.

We now have 5 wins for the season so far ( May ) with a 22% strike rate and are top of the leader board at Hexham - 6 more meeting to go between August - December. Nathan is 3rd in the jockeys championship at Hexham as are Tweed Valley in their Owner league!

Hexham are a good example of how an independent racecourse can achieve success. They give good prize money and always strive to provide safe ground. They are short of space for Owners but have improved from the days I remember of a cup of soup and a dry sandwich!

Now Les's Legacy joins the boys on the hill for his summer break - and that leaves 3. The two flat boys are due out this week as is Gloria - she has two entries at Perth over hurdles and fences but I think we will go back over hurdles...

Crimson Road returns after his wind op to either Doncaster or Beverley while we hope it rains on Carlisle for Saturday and Clear Angel. Staff have been doing team building sessions - also known as painting the stables while Jamie has completely stripped the roof from the cream barn and hopefully it starts going back on this week.

Rock Steady Eddie and Infinite Honour moved to the Blood bank near Edinburgh as we could not keep them sound and Eddie was very grumpy - giving the impression he hated his job! So we changed it and now they both have joined Johnny Dogs and Buddy - out in a herd and every 2 weeks they give blood which is used in plasma products all over the world.

New horses are joining the yard such as Ratemenow - stuck in Ireland as his transporter was in Hospital last week - we hope he arrives soon!

I attach a list of shares and new clubs that are starting off on 4th August - please let anyone who may be interested have a look!
