Hi

Susan Corbett's weekly Newsletter

Another week of ‘work in progress’ with En Meme Temp not liking the ground at Catterick and Velasco making more of an effort and should do better next time out as we get the measure of him.

Orlas Abbey went to Wetherby for the Northern Racing Club and she was very exciting for a long way! Hitting a hurdle in the home straight did not help and she faded – 3 miles next time.

Doncaster on Friday went well with Imperial Sachins performing much better than his previous first start for us – he was 7th/15 and therefore has his first qualification towards the Go North Series in March. So he needs one more run in a qualifier.

I am trying to get as many horses qualified for the Go North Series as I can as its very good prize money. Wor Verge missed his chase at Sedgefield as he had a back issue but that is now resolved and heads for Carlisle on the 6th.

On the yard – Will has left us for a new career with Jet2 a bit of a change for him! To replace him we have altered the yard slightly and employed Carl to do Yard Work and also go racing and break in the young horses – giving the riders more time to ride. Shannon enters her last few weeks before maternity leave. Emmas final interview for the Thoroughbred Industry Awards rapidly approaches at York in February.

Races coming up:- Sedgefield today sees Maisie Too’s first time over hurdles, ridden by Dillan Hurst, our yard Jockey – good luck to the Gledsons and Dillan!

Tuesday at Newcastle – Atomic Angel doubtful as ground is drying out and the race was 2.6 rather than the preferred 3 miles. Nulli Secundus goes to Newcastle to see how she does on the All Weather in a bumper.

Friday at Newcastle – Gowanbuster – 2nd last time out after his wind op – hopefully gets in the 6 furlong 0 – 55

Sunday at Musselburgh – 0 – 100 2.4 for Devour – it will probably snow! Never had such an unlucky horse to get to the races – I hope he gets there this time!

Monday at Carlisle – Samwise in his 3rd Bumper – cant wait to see him hurdling! That’s all for now – Maisie about to leave for Sedgefield…… Susan

Orlas Abbey – joins the Northern Racing Club ( Will Riding )
