Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter:

Well what a busy week we have had! Tuesday at Hexham did not go as well as expected with Les Legacy – just too soon after his first race and Buddy run off his feet in a fast two mile handicap – both came home safe and sound and will race again soon ( but not too soon ). Then it was back from Hexham at 10.30pm and up at 5 ( well five past ) to go off on a mission to Goffs sales at Doncaster.

This last two weeks we have retired En Meme Temps, Kaidu and Royal Prospect and found them all good riding homes – so we were looking to replace some of them. We bought lot 404 a Grey Mare by Cloudings age 5. She has ran twice in points and last time she was 6th – 9 lengths off the winner who was sold at this sales for 37K to Stuart Coltherd. Her bro also at the same sale went for 33k after winning a PTP.

She cost 13,000 euro last July unbroken she seems a real bargain at 8! Ian and Jason ( En Meme Temp ) are looking for people to share in her.

Next the boys Josh, Jamie and Jason hatched a plot to buy lot 413 who had won a Point to Point and passed out unsold for 7K they negiotated good terms and we came home with two! He will either be sold to stay on the yard or join the Girsonfield Racing Club – decision next week.

On the next day we tried to buy but came away emtpy handed. So we have some shares to sell in Sunset Hill and also some leased shares in the Cloudings gelding ' Joker' he is being broken now and will go into a new syndicate on the 1st July.

Today we welcomed the Nelson racing Club and other owners to meet their new colt foal and see our new horses. Rose did us proud again with her buffet and Ruth – our yard sponsor – Finnies Heavy Haulage - brought a beautiful cake made by her daughter.

Julia also brought a huge Cream cake so suffice to say the staff will have plenty of energy this week! ( I best not mention the Gin from Angela and Les, or the shortbread – there is a limit to what the staff can eat and drink lol ).

More horses turned out to grass for their rest – a new recruit comes for a days trail tomorrow as we look to gear up for the horses all coming back in July/August. Meanwhile..
