Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter:

Well what a weekend! I am always obsessed with the Go North Series and this year was no exception – disappointed to not be running Velasco, Stride and Champ through setbacks – but would we have beaten the Nicky Henderson horse in the 3 miles race? The clue is in the words GO NORTH series grrr its especially for Northern trainers and I find it...... distasteful.... that Southern trainers come and try and steal our prizes – however 'don't get mad get even' – so hopefully some Cheltenham runners next year! Anyway back to the horses that did run this weekend – Gloria for the GR club – the first club we ever set up and still going strong. Like Blame Rose last year we ran from the front and way out of the handicap – Rose was 5th and won a good prize last year and dear Gloria was beaten ½ length into 2nd place – what a game tough little mare! Great that 14 members turned out to support her. Now she is off to get a fractured tooth out and have a mini break before a summer campaign.

I have to admit being torn between 3 races for Sunset Hill over the Friday and Saturday – life was not looking good when the horse we beat at Ayr won the 3 mile mares listed – which I had bypassed. However Sunny was out paced at the start of the race ( as we knew she would be ) and went on to pick them off and came 2nd winning a huge 23K prize pot! Phew what a bargain she is turning out to be for the Sunny Boys that's is £43,340 since we ( and Jason ) bought her for 7,500 at Goffs.

So our richest prize and a great weekend – well done to my team here and our owners that support us through thick and thin! Target wise we are up to around 111,550.92 towards our 150K target for the season and presently 96/ 608 in the trainer rankings.

The rest of the horses are gearing up for the next few weeks with the Flat boys due out next weekend depending on ground and 3 run at Hexham on Tuesday including the two bros Les Legacy and Ivans Legacy for the Tweed Valley Racing Club – its Ivans Legacy ( Max ) first day at school with Henry Brook taking the ride. Just OOT ( Josh's horse ) is in his first hurdle race against a Willie Mullins Runner but I am not worried! First lambing is now finished and it has gone well with around 55 lambs from 30 ewes – so new Lambing men J and J doing well while Frank is still out with a knee injury.

Dates

25th March – Hexham

Les Legacy – Nathan

Ivans Legacy – Henry

Just Oot – Nathan

29th Doncaster – Maybe Clear Angel

30th Doncaster – Maybe Crimson Road in his debut for the stable.....

Enjoy

Chris
