There is a fresh feeling in the mornings now so all of the horses are back in their light weight rugs. Beckon hated the ground at Carlilse – her win came on the AW so we will aim for that next. The build up this week was all focus on National Racehorse Week – we had well over 150 people arrive on the yard to meet the team that makes the yard tick. First up was the introduction of the team followed by a demonstration by our Farrier on remodelling a horses foot to correct a conformation fault. Valette was nearly well behaved – but she has come along way from the feisty madam who arrived here earlier in the year! Mark gave a chiropractor demo correcting a problem in Dotties Promise back, so we had to do a quick change as she needed a quiet day and had been going up on the gallop demo – Blue Du Neuf stood in for her and, again good behaviour ruled! The team all worked very hard to make the day the success it was.

Carolyn from Cheviot Vets did a talk on common racehorse injuries while Rob from Saracen explained how we work closely on each horses diet and how good it is that we are small enough to treat each horse as an individual. The raffle – thanks again for the donations and to Margaret, George and Julia for doing it – went well raising over 800.00 with the star prize donated by the Ownaracehorse group – a share in Ebchester and Cuillin Ridge! Mike sold his 'merch' Wee Alki mugs, notepads and keyrings as an experiment – it worked very well. Isabelle ( age 11 ) sold more of her charity Pinot ( gone but not forgotten ) cards. We are about to place an order for gillets and jackets ( Nano and waterproof ) if anyone would like anything?

Thanks to Steve once again for supplying the burger van and Tony for the Ice Cream van. Although the point of the day is to show the general public how we look after our racehorses, we did sell some shares thanks to the positive vibes from some of our Owners who came to help out ' We had a lovely chat with Ian and Lee from the Otterburn Racing Club.......' Bekah was collecting share holders for the new Racing Club – Eclipse Racing - starring her as our yard amateur and her own horse Lunar Contact as well as Zhang Fei – it's a steal at £80.00 per month per share!

Next up is the Owners Open Day 5th September 2.00pm with a parade of our horses for the season ahead, Hog Roast a la Steve and your chance to try those Ice Creams and, of course our Auction. Two bottles of Whisky from Ian and our very own artist Jay Kirkman has donated a framed artists proof – Summer at Hexham - 11.25 x 25.5. Full list and details next week.

The horses are all coming along nicely but we will miss Sedgefield this week due to firm ground – we keep our powder dry! All the new horses are looking very nice and all are now in work.
