Newsletter - Susan Corbett's Newsletter June 22, 2025 |
Hi Another week that saw horses being put out of training for their summer break and some horses looking for new homes as they retire or become brood mares. Just Oots disappointing run at Hexham was sadly explained by an injury he sustained in the race. However we are hopeful for a full recovery. Meanwhile more horses are joining us, all having a break before we proceed with them. Just Edith joins the Otterburn Racing Club with shares available. Samantha has now a new filly being broken and she has bought Mr Ramoon from the same person we bought Kilmore Rock from - Joe Wright. I am making sure every new horse that joins the yard is fully vetted. The Susan Corbett Racing Club also has a new horse - placed in a Point to Point, despite being badly hampered at the last fence - he is only 4 and called Ratemenow. He has passed the vet and is on his way this week. Strangely he is also by little known Frensh stallion Ice Breeze as is Dolly ( Chris and Garys Filly ). As more horses are turned out we only will have Gloria who will start her summer campaign at Hexham today, Crimson Road and Clear Angel - both to run on the Flat. Therefore the staff are becoming proficient is disinfecting and painting stables, putting on roofs and building new areas such as a wash bay. The girls are taking holidays while Jamie and Josh are full on with works. Les's Legacy ( Charlie ) goes to Hexham with O Faolians Glory ( Gloria ). Gloria has had her fractured and decayed tooth removed and has won a Chase in Ireland so she is going in the chase - the hurdle would also have been perfect but, as you should know by now, I prefer not to run yard horses against each other. We are starting again with her as I think we will have a different horse so bad was her tooth - she is certainly eating a lot better. I am hoping she will at least be placed. Charlie ( L L ) has our yard jockey, Nathan, back in place who won on him after his 2-year drought a few runs ago. Best of luck to Tweed Valley Racing Club and the Girsonfield Racing Club. Dates Hexham today- O Faolains Glory and Les's Legacy in the Chase and Hurdle. 4th July Clear Angel Doncaster 5th July Crimson Road Carlisle 23rd August National Racehorse Week - all welcome - demos from all of the team. 6th September - Owners Open Day I have The Otterburn Racing Club starting off with new Mare 'Just Edith' who has had 2 bumper runs for experience and will be aiming at 3 miles in the fullness of time. Please let me know if you are interested to receive more details - there will be NO buy in costs:- Maximum to sell 50 shares of which we have 3 people taking 40% at the moment. So a fairly small group. 1 ( 2.5% )share £55.00 per month 2( 5% ) shares £110.00 per month 4 shares ( 10% ) £220.00 per month Susan: email:girsonfield@outlook.com Tel: 7713651215 photo: Gloria who races at Hexham Sunday June 22nd Join our Facebook friends and get our daily tips here.
