Newsletter - Susan Corbett's Newsletter July 21, 2025 |
Hi Susan Corbett's Newsletter We started the week with a new innovation from our Farrier, David. David has been with us for 10 years and comes from Peebles twice a week Mondays and Thursdays. He is also a racecourse farrier and was an apprentice trainer. He is always on the look out for improvements and this week he is trying out new nails - oblong not square with small indentations for extra grip. The new Irish filly is settling in nicely and she will just continue into training whilst most of the rest will come in on the 4th August . The roof on the cream barn is going up - hopefully this week - and all the painting and sorting should be finished in time for the 23rd August when we now have 94 members of the general public booked in. Timetable is:- 10.30 Intro and meet the Staff 10.45 Mark our Chiro 11.30 David the Farrier 12.00 See the team with the horses on the gallops. 1.00 Cheviot Vets - how to breed a race horse. 2.00 Q and A... meet our panel of experts Throughout the day Careers in Racing, Childrens corner and meet our Jockey! Some of our owners went off to Ireland to Killarney races this week and were beautifully entertained by Rose. She has a house in Killarney which she does mates rates for in the centre of the town. It was Mikes 70th I hear a good time was had by all! Meanwhile we had the journey from hell to Haydock taking 5.5 hours as they shut the M6 it was also a long way home via the A1. Clear Angel still managed a 3rd only beaten 1.5 lengths on ground he would prefer to be softer... Crimson Road did not put his best foot forward today at Redcar, so a change of plan for him. So onwards with O Faolains Glory entering unknown territory over 2.6 tomorrow - I would have preferred her carrying no weight in the big race but we were balloted out so take our chance tomorrow at Cartmel. Fingers crossed! Dates 21st July O'Faolains Glory - Cartmel 23rd August National Racehorse week Open day 6th Sept - Owners Open Day Best Regards Susan email:girsonfield@outlook.com Tel: 7713651215 Join our Facebook friends and get our daily tips here.
