Hi

So the ups and downs showed themselves this week mainly in the downs! One of our two year olds came back with a virus or 'something' from the races and it has spread among some of the horses – not all and its not dire – just a bit off colour.

Thankfully we vaccinate all our horses now for EHV as well as Flu and Tet so if we get 'something' its not long lived. However as we did not know fully which horses were and were not affected I pulled all entries at the weekend. The suspect horses have had a few days off in the field and we are back to full flow tomorrow as long as all blood tests are fine.

The jumpers are still out at nights and come in every morning for their breakfast and to start work – as you can see they gallop over to the gate every morning – so keen to start winning races! The dates are just out for the Go North Series which we won the 2.4 Hurdle with Les's Legacy – I will plan to get at least one horse in each Qualifier!

Monday evening saw a tractor coming down the lane followed by many, many cars, for the Young Farmers show around – they are visiting local businesses to see what is going on! They were not keen to leave so I guess they enjoyed the night – the horses certainly loved the attention although Rock Steady Eddie was in the field after biting our Neighbour at the Open Day!

Jumpers all in and starting work in earnest now while all the Flat ones, bar 2, are ready to run. Quiet week till Saturday and then next week we really kick off! Viv Waugh has sent part of the money raised at the Owners Open day to Zoes Place and we are gathering up the rest of the donations to go to Cancer Research and already have raffle donations for the Christmas party raffle! Date – 16th December – drop an email if you would like accommodation.

National Racehorse Week – our Open day fast approaches on the 9th September 10.30 – 3.00pm – programme attached. All owners are very welcome to come and act as yard Ambassadors and do not need to book in – just come along! We have 157 booked to come along so it looks like a busy day. It is to show the general Public how we look after the racehorses in our care and maybe there will be some aspiring new Owners and Jockeys in the mix!

24th York – Trainers Meeting – to meet Julia Harrington BHA ( any points you would like to raise? )

26th Redcar Clear Angel in a Qualifer – Gowanbuster back after Rehab

28th Cartmel for Blame Rose while Infinite Honour goes to Ripon

29th KK and Mekbat at Uttox – evening meeting. 31st Infinite Honour goes to Carlisle if he does not make Ripon.

1st September – Dandycan debut at Carlisle and Tatts Newmarket searching for a horse for the new syndicate!

That's all for now!
