Hi
We started with a two-night break in Whitehaven! Moresby Hall is a very historic, friendly hotel, which I can highly recommend! The next day was a non-event as we headed to Perth with Theatre Light and See A Stride. Perth had done a very good job of watering, but the home straight was fast ( firm ) ground. So we decided not to risk the two mares as they had had leg problems in the past - the following day we had young Ivans Legacy and by then the ground would be even faster and we did not want him to jar his legs. So 3 non runners! However, the mares head for Hexham where they do water to the easy side of good and Ivans Legacy waits for the next Hexham Bumper. Clyde is well over his gelding and he and his fillies are all turned out now although still being fed to get that strong growth of bone. We have sent a young filly to Gary Rutherford to break in as all the spare time Jamie and Josh have is taken up putting a new roof on the Cream Barn which was storm-damaged and we need sorted. WE are still busy as only a couple of horses like Sunset Hill and Freddie have been turned out as the rest still have races to come - some rain would be good though! I decided to have a busman's holiday and go to the Haydon Point to Point to support three of our members of staff - Young Angus, age 13 has just joined our Sunday Staff and comes here to use our gallops with his racing pony - he was 3rd first time out with his new pony - a jockey in the making! Abi rode in her 3rd PTP and Bekah had 2 x 3rds riding for Tina Hammond and Victor Thompson. That puts Bekah 2nd in the Northern area for Novice rider - great start to her career. Her next ride will be in the Amateur race at Hexham over hurdles - last time she rode Wee Alki to be 3rd and she claims 7lbs. I bought a horse from my neighbour Jane Walton this week - she was having issues with him and as Josh has ridden him a lot we decided to take a chance and see if we can improve him - he will run in about 2/3 weeks when we see what we have - Fairly Fulling, 7 year old gelding by Arcadio -terrible form so far. Dates Hexham 20th Tuesday Evening Late Night Drama has her second start for Samantha in the same race grrr as Theatre Light - only 8 declarations as I write. Followed by See a Stride - 5 in hers so far. Ayr 21st we have Crimson Road on the Flat. Kelso 25th Ladies Day possibly Wee Alki, Les's Legacy, Blame Rose Doncaster 22nd we will be going to the sales if anyone would like any whiskers or legs! Talking of which we do still have a small amount of Just Oot left to sell to stay on the yard please get in touch for either... Susan Join our Facebook friends and get our daily tips here.
