Busy week with all of the horses in full training and already up from 1 steady to medium work on the gallops. Keeping them out at nights and walking around the fields greatly helps their fitness.

Jamie and Josh, helped by our neighbours huge JCB, got the roof trusses in place on the cream barn. Doubtful it will be finished for the Open Day on the 23rd but will be for the 6th September Owners day!

Talking of the National Racehorse Week Open Day, you are all welcome to come along and meet the people that make our team work. The Farrier - David Merry, Chiro - Mark Noble, Vets Carolyn Cummins, Feed - Saracens Robert Hogg and, of course the team!

We start at 10.30 - 3.00pm with our very own Steve Bromley doing the catering - plus that important feature - the Ice Cream man! Horses will be on the gallops for 12.00. The aim of the day is to show the general public how we look after the racehorses and I am looking for volunteers for the Q and A session at the end!

The season ahead.... I will shortly be sending everyone the list of horses for the season for our competition to pick out your choices £10.00 per entry with proceeds to Cancer Research. There will be also a raffle on Saturday. I am very excited about all of the horses we have in training this year - thanks to, you, our Owners supporting us! Clear Angel was our only runner this week - a good 3rd beaten 2 l on ground that he is not at his best on - he much prefers soft. He has an entry next week at Ripon and then an entry in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster on the 14th September - if we get in!

Meanwhile we hope to get a racecourse gallop at Newcastle on Friday to put the edge on our Hexham runners - 27th August.
