Hi

It was a busy week – not with Racing but with general work – getting our crop of haylage in and wrapped – only one field to go but rain forcast every day. We clipped our 100 sheep on Sunday so that was another job done!

Horse wise Clear Angel did not go to York due to a slight snotty nose so we wait for 28th at York. Its an amateur Jockeys race so we are trying out Fletcher Yarham – he has had 5 wins so far comes highly recommended. The young horses who have just joined us Jimmy a 3 year old by Intrinsic, ‘Rolo’ age 4 by Telescope both continued/ started being broken in.

Otherwise we still have 14 horses in work with the rest out having a ‘summer’ break.

Stalls work started for the 3 Two year olds that have not had their trial as yet ( Dandycan has done his ). They walked through the stalls being led and then when they were happy with that – the next day they were ridden through. Being led through, Jamie closed up the doors behind them and then made them walk back a step so they got used to the idea that they could not back out, once in the stalls. They also had another horse in the next stall. This will continue next week until they are ready for their stalls trial at Newcastle.

Owners Open day fast approaches on the 12th August with a chance to see the horses back in training and what we have for the season ahead. Please RSVP by the 1st August for numbers for the BBQ afterwards – 2pm Start. We will also have a raffle ( please bring a prize! ) and an auction of a super special piece of racing memorabilia - all for Cancer charities – more next week but if you cant make it you can still make an offer!

Our National Racehorse day is the 9th September 10.30 – 3.00pm – we already have 76 people signed up to come to the yard. The idea is to show the general public how we care for our horses – all owners are welcome as ambassadors!

So the week ahead:-Racing

Market Rasen 22nd July with Beaumesnil ( still two shares in the Rede Valley Reivers ) and Cousu Main for Ian and Jason Turnbull and Susan Corbett Racing. I expect them both to run well – since his last race Cousu has put on weight, had ulcer treatment and should be feeling much better in himself!

If both horses settle they should go close – depending on the competition of course! Nathan will ride Beau and Craig Cousu – if they are available.

Redcar 23rd July – busy weekend! Come on Mekbat – working much better on the gallops and doing more work – slightly further this time but if there is no pace we may have to make the pace….

Jockeys will be chosen from Graham Lee, Harry Russell and Cam Hardie – depending who we can get.

28th July Clear Angel at York.

That’s all folks! Susan: email:girsonfield@outlook.com Tel: 7713651215

PS Sign up for the regular Lucky 15

regards Chris
