Hi

A week with more horses going out for their summer break and the staff sorting the jobs that never quite get done the rest of the year. Josh is clearing and sorting different areas while Jamie is stripping off the old roof and starting the new for the Cream barn - thanks to Sid, one of Champs owners, for coming and sorting the electrics - and donating a massive basket of booze for the Owners day auction.

For those of you who are new to the yard - we have:- 23rd August: The National Racehorse Week Open Day, where the general public is invited to see how we care for our horses. Demonstrations will be held by our Chiropractor, Vets, farrier, and more. All are welcome; the event starts at 10:30 with horses on the gallops.

6th September - Owners only Open day with a parade of horses for the coming season and an auction of unique items to raise money for charities.

Horse that are due to retire or just would prefer a different job are looking for new homes while we are bringing new horses to the yard. Just Edith joins us to reinstate the Otterburn Racing Club as our other clubs are full. She has had 2 runs for experience as she is bred for 3 miles not a 2 mile bumper.

We tried her out and she jumps well so straight over hurdles in the autumn. We have an Irish filly with a great pedigree ( by Great Pretender lol ) at Gary Rutherfords being broken in while 'Dolly' returns on Tuesday to proceed to her career with us for Gary and Chris. Another gelding this time from Ireland gets vetted on Monday for another partnership.

BIG NEWS - Stuart has decided he enjoys small partnerships and so is offering 2 legs in PINOT ROUGE for the autumn. She won well at Hexham and zoomed straight back to a rating of 126 being the highest rated horse on the yard. Please ask for details.

So to this weeks racing at Hexham. Just Oot was disappointing for his new partnership and ran flat - it looks like he has struck into himself in the race so we hope that resolves itself quicky as he is a very exciting horse.

The two bumper horses are both second generation as we trained their dams when we first started. Knockeranna Rose ( Joker ) belongs to Rose and is leased to the Ladies that Race - his dam was Toarmandowithlove a winner with Jamie riding. Rose and I sorted the Cloudings covering and he was brought up in Ireland with Rose. 4th yesterday with a huge improvement in behaviour and action! He needs a longer distance but did no wrong and caught up a long way.

'Hope' or Dotties Promise was bred here and is by Telescope - she behaved so well and was gaining quickly at the end of the race to only to be beaten 1 ¼lengths into 3rd place. A very impressive start to her career. The plan to breed our own has its ups and downs but the first two on course Freddie and Hope are proving a point ( or three if you count Joker! ). We have various shares in horses like Pinot and the Otterburn Racing Club so please shout if you want more detail....

Races 22nd June - Ladies Day at Hexham - with O Faolains Glory and Les's Legacy - yes you guessed same race grrrrr. Crimson Road and Clear Angel both coming up for races the following week.

Thanks for the support as ever!
