| Hi Another week where the staff either froze or got soaked! However the horses are all working well on the gallops and no days were lost. The soft ground we have been looking for has arrived so looking forward to our soft ground horses next week at Wetherby. Always with back up plans in case its off! We started the week at Catterick with Theatre Light, who made a good account of herself, until her wind supply cut out. She has had a wind op – but there are a number of types and so she is off to Ben Brains next week to be assessed. She has had her issues but I am determined( also known as stubborn ) she will make the grade and Nathan agrees. The girls ( Abi and Bekah ) both competed in the Point to Point at Kelso on Sunday with both making a good account of themselves but not in the prizes. Bekah has now had enough rides to enable her to be accepted on to the Amateur B ( can ride against professionals ) course next week. Her career as a jockey is gathering pace! YY Spirit has settled in after coming from the sales and does seem a bargain for a 75 rated, 3 year old filly – fingers crossed she fulfils her potential. She certainly has a lovely temperament. Atomic Angel is getting ready for her foal due at the end of March. We are still struggling to find homes for some retirees after our fingers were burned and I had to collect 4 back a few months ago in a dreadful condition. Every horse is now in at nights and Lewis ( Joshs Bro ) back from his travels, including 2 years in Australia on a stud farm, is earning his keep as yardperson and he also brings on the youngsters with lunging and long reining. Ratemenow ran in his 3rd Hurdle race at Kelso this week. Abi, our NVQ student won best turned out and Conor took the ride. He was in a 2 mile race on very soft ground and could not keep up with the pace but when they turned for home he kept going as they slowed down! So we expect he will get his handicap mark on Tuesday and then we will get him in his grade. Nathan had an exciting ride yesterday for Jimmy Moffat in a Grade 2 at Haydock – riding a rank outsider and coming 6th – a really good performance. Today we are off to Musselburgh with Wee Alki and hoping the snow stays away – only 7 runners so fingers crossed. Then tomorrow Knockeranna Rose goes in his first handicap to Carlisle supported by his team - Ladies that Race and Rose is across from Ireland to see her protégé . Unless the weather gets in the way we have some good racing to look forward to. 15th Feb Wee Alki Musselb 16th Feb Knockeranna Rose at Carlisle 19th Feb Mr Ramoon and Les's Legacy at Sedgefield. Thanks Susan
