Newsletter - Susan Corbett;s Newsletter September 14, 2025 |
Hi Susan Corbett's Newsletter First of all the good Pics in this batch ( and some from our Community Visit ) are down to our young German friend Lily Heymann who is very interested in photography - I am sure you will agree she is very good! YARD COMPETITION - please remember to join the yard competition - form attached its a bit of fun that will help us raise even more money for our charities! and so to Perth on Monday - Crimson Road jumped brilliantly for his first time over hurdles thanks to Nathans schooling - however the excitement got the better of him and he went far to fast for his own good and ran out of petrol - so new tactics at Hexham on the 3rd October. The rest of the week we progressed to 3 medium gallops and the majority of the horses handles the extra work very well. Just Oot went off to Hawick for a 3 week holiday to do some hydrotherapy for his injury - interesting to see how that works out on his next scan. Routine vet work on the yard now adds Ulcer scopes for every horse in work, at the same time we do their teeth therefore they only need to be sedated once. Ulcers are not good and certainly affect performance and temperament - best sort them now then we do not lose work later in the season when we scratch our heads and wonder why they are not winning! So far we have very mixed results from clean as a whistle to very bad ulcers - all now can be treated and one of the new vets tells me it has been proven that a very small amount of the drug keeps ulcers at bay and stops issues before they start. So now we are building up to the season and hope to have some horses ready for the first Hexham meeting on the 3rd October. meanwhile we go to Kelso on Wednesday with O Faolains Glory ridden by Conor Rabbit claiming 5Lb weight off her back. Dotties Promise may run - depends on the ground and if it eases...... Dates 17th Sept Kelso - Dotties Promise and Gloria 4th October Saturday - Dinner at Kelso for the auction of the wheelchair Challenge teams on the 5th October for our team Nathan and Josh ( they were 2nd last year - its great fun ) - we still have a few tickets for our table left - it was a great night last year?? 5th Dec Friday - the Christmas Dinner at Le Petit Chateau - please email me to book tickets Susan email:girsonfield@outlook.com Photo: Pinot by Lily Heymann - our German friend.
