Newsletter - Susan Corbett's Newsletter

Hi

Our trainer Susan Corbett sends us this week's newsletter...

A busy week with all the horses coming back to fitness and the ground at last softened enough by the rain to school over the hurdles.

Foals are due to be weaned an the yearlings are growing like leeks! We had our Yard Training from the National Racing College.

The staff are videoed on the gallops and tutored on the exercise horse – hard work and they all enjoyed it and learnt from our experienced Jockey Coach. Jamie got the hardest shift as you will see.

So we were all saddened by the passing of our Queen and it was touch and go whether we would hold our Open Day in aid of National Racehorse Week. We did go ahead and welcomed over a 100 people to the yard.

The demos from our Farrier, Chiropractor, physio and me standing in for our poorly vets doing a session on the welfare of the racehorse – all reported that they had enjoyed the day. So that’s the tidy up finished for another year!

Entries are coming in for our yard competition – closing date 22nd Sept – attached again!

Tomorrow we are off to Newcastle with the 4 year olds Buddy and Bob for a racecourse gallop – lorry in the garage or we would have taken 4!

Schooling again this week – this time the fences are in position as well as the hurdles – first runner Wor Verge at Perth on the 22nd September – most others will be out in October……
