A nip in the air but we did get the youngsters and a few recoup horses turned out this week so a whole barn less to muck out! The week centred around getting Freddie ready to go to the Barrier Trials at Newcastle Racecourse ( a practise in the stalls by the experts in the field the Witherford family ). He can be a monkey and so we did stress free leading in, through and then standing in our stalls. At Newcastle he was very well behaved – a bit boisterous in the stalls but a blindfold sorted him and Harry Russell is very good with young horses as nothing phases him. He went in twice and then galloped over 6 ( he will run over further ) so all prepared for his debut on the Flat probably 26th April at Wetherby.

Jamies Children ( My Grandchildren ) visited for the week and were very helpful with Darcey baking cake for the staff, Harrison doing 'sheep watch' and Harley doing a great impression of being my minder at the races! He did say 'he felt Les's Frustration being beaten a neck over 3.3'- Wee Alki put in another great effort ridden by Nathan to be beaten by just a neck. Next race I think we will just avoid Dillarchie will be the answer! Dotties Promise is work in progress and sadly bled ( EIPH ) at Newcastle so she gets straight onto another management programme.

A lot of our horses are still to run over the summer – starting out as well as the ones wanting better ground. So far this season we are 96 / 571 with 48 prizes and 10 wins from 115 runs a total of 103k with 3 weeks to go over the Jumps! On the Flat we have Freddie and also YY Spirit for the Grants – she goes to Ripon on Thursday. Plenty going on for the finish of the 25/26 season!
