Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter:

Another busy week with runners at Perth, new horses arriving and the Haylage to get in!

At Perth – Nathan stated that Bob is a good horse in the making and did fine against the Irish horses in his very hot Maiden Race. He needs one more run for his handicap mark and will eventually run over 3 miles. I am very happy with him and his development – young horses just take time to learn the ropes. Blame Rose was disappointing as her behaviour was very ‘Marish’ She looked like she really did not care about racing! So a freshen up and then we will have one more try with her – we can achieve most things but the saying ‘You can lead the horse to water but you cant make it drink’ is so true!

Staff:- Jamie, Josh, Amanda, Donna and shortly to be joined full time by Laura are all working together to ride the few horses still in work, summer clean and checking the horses at rest. Only three more weeks and the jumpers are back into work. The two year olds will all, hopefully, have had their stalls trial by the end of July and be dressed up and ready to go. Team night out Thursday to celebrate the brilliant start we have had to the season. Great to see our Owners visiting the Yard this week – good time to visit as you do not need wellies!

Owners Open Day fast approaches on 12th August at 2 pm if you could RSVP by 1st August that would be good. Order of the day will be a parade of the horses we have for next season their aims and aspirations, meet the team and then a BBQ. We are also having an Auction for a special, unique prize – more about that next week. This year all our Charity Raffles etc will go to Cancer charities.

New horses ‘Rolo’ age 4 by Telescope ( Forty one Shots ) and ‘Jimmy’ by Intrinsic 9 Winter Link ) are settling in and Jimmy starts his education Monday – probably heading for one of our Racing clubs. We managed to get two fine days in a row to gather in our haylage so it can rain all week now as we need soft ground for York for Clear Angel.

Racing

14th July York Friday first time over 1.2 for Clear Angel

22nd July Market Rasen Beaumesnil ( 2 miles ) and Cousu Main ( 2.4 )

23rd July Redcar Mekbat over 1.1.

Diary Dates

12th August – Owners Open Day 2.00pm RSVP 1st August please.

9th September – National Racehorse Week – Open Day 10.30 – 3.00pm

Kind Regards
