Hi

Well, I am not sure if we have better weeks with even the horse under threat to retire putting his best foot forward! Starting at Newcastle, Kingston Rock went very well being educated all the way – a slip up at the last did not help him and so he finished 5th with plenty of promise for the future, likewise This Is Bob made a juddering error but still finished the race giving us hope as he gets more experience.

Pinot Rouge was bought privately from Ireland and she stayed on to be very impressive on her first run for a year and first over hurdles – another few yards and her 3rd would have been 1st against very good horses. She now heads for Doncaster Listed mares in 4 weeks. The quality of the yard is growing which is what we aim for.

Next up was Catterick with Beaumesnil just caught on the line for 2nd – we all thought he had done enough but just not quite. However I am sure Samantha, Steve and Julia of the Rede Valley Reivers were as pleased as I was that we are getting the measure of him.

Then what do you say about Champ Royal? A new syndicate and the members think its like this all the time! Three wins since we bought him and he is not finished improving yet. I have to tell you the quote from At The Races 'This horse has been a revelation since joining SC yard'.

I can cope with that! Then Buddy – first time the commentor has ever got his name correct – he was like a different horse and after a few gasps and a brilliant ride by Nathan he came 2nd!

Wetherby looked like the dampener – Rock Steady Eddie- best known for how he uses his teeth- looked lack lustre and he trudged around at the back – Edward was intent on improvimg him and took him at a steady pace – then off they went and steamed in to be 3rd with the odd 100K horse behind him – what a week – thanks to the team and our owners who work and have the patience to make these times worth while.

While Sam Coltherd waited out his ban – Ed Austin and Nathan filled the gap very well. Ed is very good value for his claim and has done nothing wrong this week – just needs the chances. So what now – Les's Legacy at Musselburgh in about 1 hour! Best get on...

This week

Sedgefield – Velasco and Atomic Angel

Newcastle 8th Royal Prospect

Newcastle 10th – a new horse to us Kaidu

Fingers crossed the horses just keep getting better!
