Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter

First of all we have 2 shares left ( total 6 ) in our new Partnership The Rede Valley Reivers – with Johnny Dogs and Beaumesnil - placed 1st and 2nd in their first runs for the partnership – please ask for details in this exciting new venture!

So a busy week starting last Sunday with four runners at Hexham. Blame Rose was up first and a right strop she was in – we think because she was in season – still ran on to be 4th – so improving every run – she goes to Perth of Thursday.

This is Bob is also learning and just needs practice he was just out of the prizes in 5th. Wor Verge just did not stay and ended up with an injury but should be back soon, while Cousu Main – first run for us was very good and just missed out on 1st prize by just over a length! If we can get him to settle he could be a very nice horse in the making – Craig could not believe how he was still there at the end after pulling so hard early doors.

Summer jobs took over Monday and Tuesday with barns being disinfected and repaired – then Wednesday we were off to Carlisle with Clear Angel. We had waited a long while to get a run – avoiding firm ground. The night before Declarations it was still saying good to firm and then it rained! Just missed out on the ‘Carlisle Bell’ which was frustrating when horses dropped out. However, after looking nothing like the winner and coming from the back, our clever boy won the Carisle Bell Consolation race by a neck!

We were delighted! Consider this – the ‘Bell’ was a slower time than ours and we were top weight in the consolation and would have been bottom weight in the ‘Bell’ – hmmmm. I know some people are never happy! Great ride from Graham Lee who suggested Clear Angel hated the track!

Next day we were off to Newcastle and Mekbat disappointed a little but we will get the measure of him – his best effort was in front of the Look North Cameras when we were interviewed.

During the week we also took delivery of a gelding age 4 by Telescope out of a mare related to Aye Right. He was broken in last year so we will see what he is like this week when we lunge him and start him off again– nice big boy tho.

Race plans for Next week….

6th Perth This Is Bob Blame Rose

Kind Regards
