Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter

I started the week in Welshpool where I was invited to view a selection of very well bred Fillies and geldings. All well related – mainly to Denman- and age 3, broken in and ready to start work. I thought they were exceptional pedigrees and value. The place itself was amazing – our whole yard would fit into one of their barns – anyone interested to know more please drop me an email. We got over the frozen part of the week and this next couple of weeks looks slightly warmer. Tomorrow most of our horses will be in work and after Christmas we will have another 4 coming into work and the young horses will be ready for full training by then.

Theatre Light and Mickey Breeze will also be looking for races soon. We went off to Musselburgh on Friday with the Girsonfield Racing Clubs O Faolains Glory – bought by Jamie in January for 4500. She has already won that back with her places – she blotted her copy book at Hexham running her first ever ‘Duff’ race ( as the Racing Post said!) However she made up for it in spades as she won easily at Musselburgh in a 2.4 chase. Abi won Best Turned Out meaning Les W can no longer complain that if they win BTO they never win the race – well he probably still will lol.

Next day at Newcastle - racing would be so on the up if there were crowds like Newcastle yesterday – it was amazing. I am sure Constitution Hill was a major draw and the disappointment was shocking as he fell at the second hurdle. I was disappointed with Pinot but nothing like Nicky Henderson would be feeling about his stable star. Pinot likes it on the front and easy – it was a very competitive race – as was Sunnys. Sunny did very well her jumping which was brilliant, and she was less than 2 l from 3rd – she and Pinot are still young mares with a lot of education to come. N ot much racing this week but we make up for it over the weekend going off to Huntington with Dotties Promise while Ivans Legacy heads for his debut at Kelso.

Christmas Party 5th Dec for those of you going its’7pm welcome drink - 7.30 Dinner then the raffle and also a few words before the Disco – the evening will end at 12 midnight.

Racing

5th Sedgefield – Fairly Fulling

7th Kelso – Ivans Legacy debut over hurdles

7th Huntington Dottie Promise in a mares listed

8th Mussel – Crimson Road maybe Fairly Fulling

10th Hexham – the rest of the yard! Trying to beat Lucinda to the trainers championship at Hexham where we are now only second!
